One of the biggest controversies of the past 60 years - a true machlokes of our time
In the 1960s The Sugar Research Foundation paid scientists to carry out fraudulent studies linking cholesterol to heart disease. They did this to demonize fats and promote the sugary products they were affiliated with.
This fooled the entire population and birthed the ‘low fat’ movement
People parrot the phrase ‘eggs raise cholesterol’ like a broken record, but when you actually dig into the data you find that …
Eggs do increase cholesterol …
“I TOLD YOU, I WAS RIGHT!!!”. “THAT’S IT, NO MORE THAN 4 EGGS A WEEK”.
“Whoaahhhh relax!!”, let me explain…
There are 2 main types of cholesterol: HDL and LDL
HDL is good, LDL is bad (causes heart disease)
HDL mitigates the harmful effects of LDL
Eggs raise your HDL, NOT your LDL cholesterol
There is NO legitimate evidence that proves eggs raise LDL cholesterol!
Some interesting benefits of eggs include:
• Eggs are incredibly anabolic – 48% of an egg gets converted into muscle/body tissue. This is more than any other food on the planet.
• They contain all 9 essential amino acids
• They are great for eye health
• They support brain health
• They boost the immune system
Eggs contain:
• Choline
• Vitamin D
• Iron
• B1
• B5
• B12
• Lutein
• Zeaxanthin
• Vitamin E
• Phosphorus
• Folate
• Iodine
• Selenium
• Zinc
• Potassium
• Magnesium
Sounds like a super food to me
What do you think?
Should we be consuming more or less eggs?
